I realise you haven't been seeing many updates on here recently. I've been attending Parish Council meetings and, although they are very supportive, we are collectively stalled on where to take this next. The Parish Council have arranged for me to meet with Voluntary Action Leicestershire (VAL) as a first step to getting a properly constituted Voluntary Action Group to give us a higher profile and credibility. When I have a process clarified, I'll be back with a request for people who want to join with me to form a nucleus of volunteer residents from both villages to move this forward. - Mike Doyle

Bike to School Week details here: https://www.sustrans.org.uk/our-blog/news/2019/august/bike-to-school-week-rolls-through-the-uk-23-27-september/?fbclid=IwAR2ikx3z-HT7KlBTY_6MJ71BLThWQVBuzahBxjoU0YkF0UXVD-5MwBt41rA I've today posted the following on both the Long Whatton and Diseworth village facebook groups: As a keen cyclist and Sustrans supporter, I'm curious to hear from parents of children attending Diseworth school or Long Whatton school. Three questions: Does your child cycle to school? If they don't, would you want them to be able to? If you would want them to be able to, what's preventing them from doing so? Thanks.

We're in a lull at the moment. I'm keen to get the expertise of Sustrans (the charity which manages the National Cycle Network) onside to advise us on how we can move this idea forward. Long Whatton & Diseworth Parish Council is helping with this. I'm a Sustrans supporter and have just enquired about becoming a volunteer. I'm curious to know from those reading this - have we got any Sustrans supporters or volunteers in Long Whatton or Diseworth? Anybody involved with Sustrans in our facebook campaign group? www.facebook.com/groups/DLWTRAIL/ Thanks!
