WHERE WOULD YOUR IDEAL TRAIL GO?

This post is purely blue-sky thinking. If you had the power to create a safe, traffic-free, active travel trail linking Long Whatton to Diseworth, for use by pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users and horse riders, where would you put it? THIS IS AN EXERCISE IN YOUR IDEAL WORLD, ignoring any current constraints you may feel. Its purpose is purely to get the creative juices flowing; it's NOT an attempt to define anything at this stage. You can save the map image by right-clicking (or, on a touch screen, long pressing on it) - so feel free to save it, mark your "ideal" route, and post it as a comment on this post. How you mark it is up to you - you could edit your saved image, or print it, mark your ideal route on it with a marker pen, and take a photo of it and include it in your response. Or, if none of that works for you, just use words 😊 LET'S BE CREATIVE!

Hi Mike Hampton,

Thanks. That does make sense, doesn't it? Saves cutting across farmland (and could actually reduce footfall across the fields if users choose to avoid the existing Cross Britain Way in favour of the new route). It's certainly high on our list of possibilities. We've now formed our DLWTRAIL committee of residents and will be holding our first meeting later this month - so this will definitely be on the agenda as a starting point. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. - Mike

Hi Mike,

basically the first idea is the redline on your map.

O need to create a new path/track heading north alongside the A40 two.

Then join existing lane, Long Holden.
